FAQs

WHERE DO YOU MEET?
For about two years we met in a home in the Mount Vernon area.  We are a small, but growing fellowship, and we have recently transitioned to our new church building off of the 495 Van Dorn Street exit.  We are working hard to accomplish the same home-feel that our church has provided for so long in order to ensure everyone's comfortable and included.

WHAT IS THE ORDER OF SERVICE?
We begin at 10am with pre-service fellowship and setup.  Typically, people begin arriving for the 11am service around 10:45.  We have coffee, bagels, and donuts before settling in for service and worship.

A typical Sunday service consists of singing, followed by a 20-25 minute talk or “sermon” that delivered by Pastor Niki, or another speaker for the day.  We usually follow the sermon with a small group discussion of the topic.

At 12:30pm, we break for afternoon fellowship and some people go out to lunch with each other, or do other fun activities, like go swimming or play games.  We usually wrap up between 1 and 1:30pm.  Event details are posted on our website. You are welcome to join us for any or all of these events, and to come and go as you please.

DO I HAVE TO BRING MY BIBLE?
We encourage you to bring a Bible to the service.  However, if you don’t own a Bible, or forget to bring one, we have copies available for you.

WHAT IS THERE TO DO NEARBY?
Some of our favorite nearby restaurants are Ruby Tuesday's, Chipotle, Johnny Rocket's, Uno's, Macaroni Grill, Panera Bread, Bonefish Grill, and Chili's (located about 5 miles away in Springfield area). Local activities include miniature golf, movies, shopping, walking around DC, shopping at Springfield Mall, or rock climbing at the SportRock facility on Eisenhower Ave.

WHAT IS THE WORSHIP LIKE?
We strive to worship God "in spirit and in truth (John 4:24b)."  We encourage people to express their adoration for the Lord, whether it’s by raising their hands in love and exaltation, singing loudly and joyfully, or meditating quietly in their hearts. We prefer to sing a mix of contemporary songs and hymns.

WHO WILL I MEET?
All kinds of people join us for fellowship, ranging from people who have been Christians all their life to people who have just started exploring their relationship with God.  We all have one thing in common -- we seek to develop and deepen our relationships with God and with one another.

WHAT DO I WEAR?
We tend to be a casual crowd.  Most of us come in weekend clothes, and we kick off our shoes at the door.  That said, you are welcome to dress up and leave your shoes on, if you prefer.  Jesus asks us to come to Him just as we are, so that's our dress code.  We come to Him as we are, whether we are in suits or in jeans.

WHAT ABOUT KIDS?
We love kids!  You are welcome to bring your children with you -- we will have childcare and children’s church available for you, or they can sit with you during the service.  Our children's program is called Kingdom Kids, and we aim to develop our children into spiritual champions!

WHAT ACTIVITES AND MINISTRIES DO YOU OFFER?

Some of our core values are fellowship and being the body of Jesus 7 days a week, so many of our church activities center around fostering relationships with one another and meeting the needs of people in our body and in our community. Our primary vehicle for achieving these goals is through our Lighthouses -- groups that function like small churches that are an extension of our larger body.  Information on our Lighthouses can be found on our website in the "Ministries" section.

We also have monthly women’s events and men’s events. In addition, we have ministries to the poor, the captive, and the orphaned (called our Cornerstone Ministry).

DO YOU WANT MY MONEY?

Only if you're offering!  Seriously, we believe giving joyfully of 10% or more of our income is key to spiritual growth, but it's totally voluntary.  We do not require or pressure guests to tithe.
