This is a note from a family who attended our church for a couple years and moved in 2010 to another state.

We have started attending a small group. It's only a 13-week study. It's on the Truth Project. One of the things I found interesting is the constant reminder that God is not just a "heart God," but also a "mind God." That God is not all about the warm and fuzzy, but also about understanding His truths and His ways with the brain -- from an academic level. I did not realize how much we learned from you and from our time at MVFF until we came to this group. You taught us how to evaluate scripture and dissect it from a different place. I think it is serving us well in this group as we are able to grasp concepts that would have been difficult for us just a few years ago. I still need to read my Bible more and pray more and study more, but you gave us a good foundation!

I will say that my husband's straight-forward approach to wanting to understand scripture is probably a little overwhelming to the group. He's not afraid to ask the hard questions and make people uncomfortable. A good thing, though. I think he pushes people to not just get the "warm fuzzies" but to try to academically understand WHY they believe what they believe. I am proud of him and thankful to both of you that you allowed us to learn to not be afraid to question scripture in order to better understand it.
